Sometime around 1998, everywhere Brian C went,
he began hearing "Do you know you look like Ricky Martin?" from almost everyone
he met. At the time, he and most of his friends in Orlando, where he lives, had no clue
who the international superstar was until his American debut album was released in
America.
In August of 1999, after receiving more and more comments from places like Wal-Mart to
Major Theme Parks, Brian was asked to perform at Orlando's busiest nightclub, The Club at
Firestone. His first performance as Ricky Martin was at the closing of a Fashion Show on
August 28, 1999.
One week after his first stage appearance, he was cast as Ricky Martin in the 9th Annual
Bill and Ted's Halloween Adventure at Universal Studios Florida. The show was seen by over
200,000 people during the month of October and was rated the #1 show in all 10 years of
Universal's Halloween Horror Nights.
Jumping right into the impersonator game, Brian began performing nationwide for radio
stations, nightclubs, and conventions. As the real Rickys fame grew, Brians
performances increased and he is now in demand for more and more appearances. Sometimes he
doesnt even have to perform, simply appearing at special events where he shakes
hands and greets attendees as the famous Latin sensation. His likeness to the real Ricky
causes an immediate turning of heads and pointing of fingers: "Is
that
Ric
? No, its not the real Ricky, but the next best thing to him.
Brian recently was featured on the front page of the Orlando Sentinel Living section.
When asked his favorite Ricky Martin experiences, Brian states, "Las Vegas! One of
the most exhilarating moments of my life was when I entered the Ricky Martin look-alike
contest at Club Rio in Las Vegas, the same night the real Ricky Martin was performing
across town at one of his nation-wide concerts.
I was voted the top look-alike by the 3,000 screaming fans in the club from over 20
contestants. Though the cash prize was incredible, it was the feeling of stardom that made
this such a memorable experience. I must have signed a hundred autographs that night... as
Brian C! People were asking why not have the next best thing as they wanted me
to autograph their Ricky Martin programs from the concert in Vegas earlier that
night."
Brian doesnt know where this new adventure will lead him, but what he does know is
that he is having a lot of fun impersonating Ricky Martin. He is truly livin' his la vida
loca!
